Gustavo Buenrostro JR

Full-stack and systems developer. ASP.NET Core and Next.js on the web, Unity and C# for games.

01About

I'm a software engineer based in Houston and New York City, currently looking for my first full-time role. I build full-stack web applications — Angular and ASP.NET Core on one end, Next.js and TypeScript on the other — and server-authoritative multiplayer systems in Unity.

I graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Computer Science. Most of what I know came from shipping: a study-tracking platform, a video archive running on a CI/CD pipeline in AWS, and a 4X strategy game whose content is driven entirely by data rather than hard-coded.

    2026 — Present

A full-stack study tracking system: an Angular front end over an ASP.NET Core Web API, with JWT-authenticated sessions and RESTful endpoints. Dependency injection keeps the services modular, xUnit covers the business logic, and the EF Core data layer uses async patterns and migrations so the schema can move without downtime.

    2026

A video archiving app for curating and browsing YouTube collections. It pulls video details through the oEmbed API at request time instead of storing files, reads and writes through a repository layer over a normalized relational schema, and ships to AWS through a GitHub Actions pipeline that runs the test suite first.

  • Multiplayer 4X Strategy Game

    2026 — Present

A server-authoritative multiplayer strategy game in Unity, networked with FishNet and a NetworkBehaviour per player. A registry pipeline compiles 80+ JSON files into a scriptable object registry, so no content is hard-coded, and every authoritative state mutation is validated server-side — which is what finally killed a long tail of client-side race conditions.
